I’m going to Graceland, Graceland, Memphis, Tennessee… is truly the feeling I had when I knew I was going to go in September. I never really knew much about Elvis, just the hype and a few songs, but trust me, once you leave the gates of Graceland, you will be an Elvis fan forever.

Graceland is the Colonial Revival mansion built on a 13.8 acre estate, now owned by Lisa Marie Presley. It was their family home which turned into a museum in 1982. Elvis purchased the estate in 1957 at the age of 22 for just over $100,000. It was one of the first historic homes in the U.S. to offer an interactive iPad tour, giving visitors the full multimedia experience, narrated by the equally dreamy John Stamos.

 

While you can tour pretty much anything in and around the estate – there are 2 custom airplanes, an automobile museum, a racquetball court, stables, and many other exhibits, the mansion tour proper only includes the main and lower levels. The upstairs remains a private family sanctuary.

As a lover of music and design, I can tell you that this tour is worth it. It was pure sugary candy for my eyes and ears. The photos I took of this amazingly preserved time capsule simply don’t do it justice, you’ll have to check it out for yourself!
